12 Days of Christmas ~ Day 10 ~ Holiday Appetizers


When I host a party I prefer serving appetizers to a full meal.

The biggest reason is I love the variety and the social aspect of a

party where there isn’t the formal element of sitting down to a

proper dinner. Appetizers are also great because many of them

can be made in advance so you can enjoy the party and your guests!




Here’s what I’m making this year…



Shrimp Cocktail

Easy but fancy!


Presentation on this one is EVERYTHING!


 Find a tall martini glass to serve the shrimp cocktail in

and no one will remember that all you had to do was unthaw the shrimp!

My suggestion is to buy very good quality and slightly larger shrimp

than you would for a cooking recipe.





Buffalo Chicken Dip


I promise this dip will be the hit of your party!





8 oz. Cream Cheese (room temperature)

2 cup Sour Cream

1/2 cup Ranch Salad Dressing

1/2 cup Frank’s Red Hot

1/2 cup Shredded Tex Mex Cheese

24 oz. Chicken (I recommend using a rotisserie chicken, diced)


  1. In a mixing bowl combine cream cheese, ranch, sour cream, and Frank’s Red Hot until well blended.
  2. Stir in diced chicken.
  3. Stir in 1/2 cup of grated cheese.
  4. Put mixture into crockpot.
  5. Serve warm with celery sticks, tortilla chips, pretzels, pita chips or crackers

No party is complete without one.

Here’s what I like to include on my Cheese Board…


Great Cheese (of course!)

Blue Cheese

Smooked Gouda


Cranberry Goat Cheese



A Meat Option

Dried Salami



Something Crunchy




Something Salty

Green Olives



Something Sweet



Honey (accompanies Blue Cheese well)

Fruit Chutney or Jam



And Finally a Cracker and voila!





Cheese Ball


Add a homemade Cheese Ball to your

Cheese Tray for a customized option!




8 oz. Cream Cheese

2 cups Gouda or Colby Cheese (shredded)

1/4 Chopped Fresh Chives

1/4 cup Diced Bacon

2 Crushed Garlic Cloves

3/4 cups Toasted Pecans



  1. Mix softened cream cheese and shredded cheese in mixer (or hand mix if you have no mixer)
  2. Add chives, bacon and garlic
  3. Shape into 1 or 2 balls or logs. Roll in pecans
  4. Refrigerate until firm
  5. Serve with crackers




Roll Up’s



Flour Tortillas

Cream Cheese

Italian Meat(s)




  1. Add cream cheese to flour tortilla
  2. Add Italian meats
  3. Add lettuce & Onion
  4. Roll, slice and serve




The gangs all here… Seafood, Chicken, Italian Meat, Bacon and Cheese!

I will also serve veggies and dip and lots of desserts and treats!
